Health & Safety FAQ's
I’m pregnant — can I participate?
Yes, with some important guidance.
• General classes are suitable up to 12 weeks of pregnancy
• You must inform us you are pregnant
• You must have clearance from your healthcare provider
From 12 weeks onwards, Pilates at HALE is offered through pregnancy-specific sessions or private training with an instructor trained in pre- and postnatal Pilates.
I have an injury or health condition — can I still do Pilates at HALE?
Often yes — but it depends on the individual.
Please let us know about any injuries, health conditions or recent surgery before attending. You may be asked to:
• Provide guidance from your healthcare provider
• Start with private or foundation sessions
This allows us to keep you safe and ensure you get the most from your practice.
Is Pilates suitable for older people or those with osteoporosis?
Pilates can be very beneficial for strength, balance, posture and mobility as we age.
If you have osteoporosis or osteopenia, or concerns around bone health:
• Let us know in advance
• Avoid flexion-heavy movements
• Use appropriate modifications
Our instructors will guide you towards the safest and most appropriate options.
Is there anything Pilates isn’t suitable for?
Pilates isn’t suitable for everyone in every situation.
If you have acute injuries, uncontrolled medical conditions, or are advised by a healthcare professional to avoid exercise, Pilates may not be appropriate without specific guidance.
If you’re unsure, please speak to us before booking — we’re always happy to advise on the safest option.
How is my safety assured during on-demand sessions?

All on-demand users must check in at reception, follow studio guidance, and practise within their own discretion.
